The Gates to Eternity: Knowledge, Wisdom, and Will

Knowledge

Before you can understand Will, you must remove the Blind Ego Habit of “I know” from your brain consciousness and start using wisdom with the awareness from your heart.

If you live in this blind habit of “I know”, your mind is too lazy to stay sharp all the time. When your heart can be precisely aware of philosophy, in the present, and from all angles, then you will be able to live perfectly in philosophy, and become the philosophy.

When we say “heart” it means connecting to your brain consciousness, subconsciousness, and hidden consciousness at the same time.

  • Your brain consciousness connects to all the knowledge you have through your thinking ability. It is the fifth chakra ability. It is also called logical ability.
  • Your subconscious connects without thinking to your memories of this lifetime, by directly feeling your desire, passion, body, and emotion. These are the first to fourth chakra abilities. It is also called Desire Ocean, Passion Lights, Physical Illusion, and Healing Heart.
  • Your hidden consciousness connects to past-life memories and the future-potential awareness ability. These are the sixth and seventh chakra abilities. It is also called Intuition Ability, which is “Wisdom Thinking Knowledge that is transformed into Wisdom Awareness Ability”.

These three types of consciousness are usually separate, but when they are united, your heart is awakened. When they are separate, Blind Ego Habit appears, causing suffering.

If I point at a person, my finger is not that person. The finger’s function is to make us aware of the person, not the finger. Knowledge is the same: it is supposed to help you be aware of the truth behind the knowledge, not just the knowledge itself.

If you can remember the knowledge, but are not able to live in that knowledge, then it is as if you are only aware of the finger, but not where the finger points.

Ask yourself: “Am I developing my brain to know life, or am I developing my heart to be aware of life?”

Chi Gong and Tai Chi are mysterious moving-meditation arts that help you realise that you think you know how to use your body, but actually do not.

There is a story of a group of blind men standing around an elephant. One touches its tail and says the elephant is a rope. One holds its leg and says the elephant is a tree. One grabs its trunk and says the elephant is a snake. One plays with its ear and says the elephant is a fan. The last one is the worst: he feels the elephant’s body and says, “All four of you are so blind! It’s obvious that this is a wall!”

People who are sighted will all see the elephant as an elephant, but the five blind men each see the elephant differently because of blind creation through their sense of touch. Truth is always the same, but blindness has unlimited ways to deceive.

Buddhas have a complete, awakened consciousness and see all life as the same, but unawakened consciousness see life from their own limited angle.

To see the complete truth of life is Wisdom Ability. When you have enough Wisdom Ability, you will be aware of Will.

Wisdom

Wise people observe “reality” and realise that “reality” is a complicated combination of different kinds of causes. Buddhism teaches that everything which appears has four causes. They are:

  1. The main cause: your intention.
  2. The main supporting cause: the main subject and the people you deal with.
  3. The timing: every event in every life only occurs when the timing is right. Each case has its own right timing to make the right result.
  4. All the other causes: direct, indirect, internal, and external causes which are not included in the first three.

To develop Spirits, you must learn to control the first three causes. The fourth cause comes from your connection to the uncountable universe karma and all the unlimited future possibilities. Only a Buddha can control this.

Everything has these four causes, so if you are not aware of them, you are not completely aware of reality. If you are not able to understand those causes, then you are blind.

When your heart is able to observe the first three causes – main cause, main supporting cause, and timing – your Wisdom Ability starts to develop, allowing you to clear out your blindness. Through this ability you will eventually become aware of the fourth cause: then your Wisdom Ability will be complete.

Wisdom is required to reach a high enough level to develop the Four Eternal Hearts: pure kindness, care, joy, and freedom. Knowing the Four Eternal Hearts by mind will not help you reach perfect wisdom because your heart will not follow them naturally. (Actually, it naturally follows greed, hate, stupidity, possessiveness, ego, fear, and worry.)

How can you transfer all the knowledge from your mind to your heart? You need a gate for it to pass through. That gate is Will.

Will

There are three conditions for developing a true Will:

1. True Will comes from eternal wisdom.

Illusions are a constantly changing power so if you are lost in illusion, then you cannot build anything that is eternal. For that reason, true Will have to come from eternal wisdom. Eternal wisdom helps clean out the tricks of illusion, allowing you to have a pure heart, to develop eternal Spirits.

2. Will is not personal, but it includes the personal.

It is personal because you must pass through the personal to connect to your Will, but you are not limited by the personal. If you want to save other people from drowning, you first need personal swimming ability.

True wisdom is not limited to just one life; just as true Will is not limited to only one person.

3. Will is unchanging.

Will has the power to stay unchanging by time (eternity) and by quality (purity).

For example, Amitabha’s Pure Land is eternal and is made by his Will; it does not change. His Will comes from pure wisdom calculation and pure compassion, so that purity does not change. There is no blindness. His Will has unlimited direction to help unlimited life.

Once you start to have a Will, the world follows you because Will is more powerful than all the changing power. It is the only thing that is non-changing because it is eternal wisdom. It supports your heart to create a direction and goal, and that power is unchanging. Because that power is unchanging, death disappears.

Your body comes from the four-element world and will one day go back to the four-element world. Your heart is your true self, so goes nowhere. Thus, when your eternal heart is awakened with an eternal goal, death disappears.

Will Has the Power to Destroy Death

Will is the gate to reach eternity. When your heart knows clearly what life is about and the best way to make your life meaningful, then nothing else can influence you: the world follows your spiritual Will.

The rule of existence is that the stronger influences the weaker, so if the blind illusion is stronger than you, then you are doomed!

True Will is not a desire or wish. Wishes are always changing. True Will never changes, so it has to come from true wisdom. Without true wisdom, true Will cannot appear. Without true wisdom, you are lost in the tricks of illusions. If you fall into the tricks of illusions, then you will never learn to build true wisdom.

If the wisdom is eternal truth, then the Will becomes eternal truth. Will is a way to create eternity force from eternal wisdom.

Death is in every moment; in every moment, everything disappears and changes to become everything else. So which moment can we call death?

Your four-element body never dies, it just changes. It comes from four-element nature and will go back to it one day. You, however, never die. If you are connected to the four-element body, then before that you surely existed, otherwise who is connected to it? Thus, you will not disappear: your consciousness is eternal.

The death illusion exists because your consciousness doesn’t have a Will; you are lost in the power of illusion and follow the changing illusion.

That is why you never have steady, clear wisdom or see the goal of life. It is why you never get out of reincarnation, out of blindness, or out of the tricks of illusion to become eternity itself.

When you realise this, you start to have a natural love. You love every life, not because it’s personal, but because they also have the opportunity to learn Spirits, they have the same chance to become perfect.

The only difference between a spiritual and a non-spiritual consciousness is that one is awakened and the other is lost. But in either case, the essence is the same: the potential to develop kindness, care, joy, and freedom. Because every life has the same essence, true spiritual Will has the compassion to help every life.
