Part One: Consciousness and Space Appear

According to Buddhist teaching, our hearts create everything.

It’s not our regular idea of a physical heart that pumps blood, nor our idea of wanting / desire / what we are looking for—heart.

In Buddhist teaching, the heart is a power that exists to be aware of everything. It is equal to consciousness—our ability to be aware. It is a natural ability.

If you use logic to observe it, it will become evident for you.

If there is no heart to be aware of anything, there is no life.

Creation – in Buddhism, there is no god to create the universe. So you don’t have to follow any god.

But you can still make peace with high consciousness, which we call god. Because somehow, these high consciousnesses still want to help us. So, it is good to show respect for higher consciousness.

If we went back to see cave dwellers and showed them a lighter, a gun, and a laser, they would bow and think we are god.

So, god is a relative term to whatever your level of consciousness. Our idea of god is about something unknown which goes far beyond what we know now.

Everything keeps changing. Creation is part of causation, which always changes due to many causes.

Buddhism talks about reality. Everything changes. So, if something exists as a form, it is changing and empty. Something which can exist without form is empty.

The word empty is challenging to understand because we assume it means there is nothing there. But completely nothing does not exist. Empty space is still space.

All forms, including life, are created by joined consciousness. We can use the word karma.

Our heart has a creation ability. It can join together with other hearts to create three different types of unlimited space:

  • Physical / Material Space
  • Energy Space
  • Empty Space

When consciousness connects to these three kinds of space, they become three types of lifeforms.

Part Two: How Does Life Appear From Consciousness

Life appears through 6 Unlimited Elements.

  • Consciousness (6) creates empty space (5). Empty space is pure energy with the potential to form the 4 elements: Earth, water, fire, and wind.
  • When energy builds something in a steady form, we call that material.
  • When it is a ‘free’ style, we call it energy.
  • The four styles we call the 4 Elements come from empty space.
  • When the pure energy is still (unmoving), we call it empty space.
  • When it moves, it creates the four elements.

Look out at the sky at night.

Is it mostly stuff (planets/stars)? No. It is mostly empty space.

In fact the universe is so tiny compared to empty space, like one granule of sand in a desert.

Scientists are trying to understand empty space, which they now call dark matter. They find that 96% of everything we can observe is this empty space (dark matter).

When you look at the surface of the water, it is smooth. But throw a stone at it, and ripples appear on the surface. The water in this example is empty space. The thrower is consciousness. The ripples are the four elements. When it stops moving, it goes back to pure empty.

Another example of the six elements is water.

  • Heat it into steam, it rises and expands to go everywhere.
  • It rises and cools and forms a cloud, then falls as rain.
  • As a liquid, this rain can fill a cup and stay in it. It is not free to travel anymore. It will become whatever container it is in.
  • Then cool it more to become ice, and it becomes solid.
  • But mix anything with water, steam it out, cool it, and it goes back to pure water again. Nothing can ever permanently mix with water.
  • In this example, Water is empty space, its states are the elements, and consciousness acts on the elements.
  • The same essence can create many different appearing forms.

Unlimited – what is this?

Every night we dream. Then it disappears, and the next night, we have another dream. There is no limit to the number of dreams. But all dreams fit into one of the three categories above. They are Material space, energy space, and empty space.

Buddhism says life has two sides: consciousness and illusion. They are empty. They are illusions. That is what the Heart Sutra is teaching.

Why are these six elements empty?

Consciousness creates the first 5. If they are created, then they did not exist before. So, they are an illusion. Like we make a dream. Then the dream is gone. It appears like it exists, but it is truly not there.

But consciousness itself has no form, so it is empty. That is why Buddhism teaches emptiness—many different kinds of empty. Consciousness always exists but never appears anywhere, that type of empty.

Zen Riddle: Empty is not empty.

If empty is empty, then who is learning to be empty? Who is teaching empty? What subject are we learning that is empty? Because empty is not empty. Empty is deep and abstract. Empty creates everything and never becomes anything. Empty remains empty.

Part Three: Karma: Joined Consciousness Creation

  • Many things mixed, we call causation, like apple seed becomes an apple.
  • When those causes are powerful enough to influence across lifetimes, we call it karma.
  • Everyone’s karma together in a system we can call Dharma. Extensive system to support every life to create their own karma. So, all the apple seeds and all the apples are connected to those trees.

Everything can be observed because causation gives rise to life.

So, in one way, Buddhist philosophy is more scientific than science! Scientists look at materials and now energy. But they don’t know how to observe empty space. They are only now learning this through Quantum Physics. They are starting to see that consciousness affects energy. They still miss the fact that consciousness is the main cause of life.

They realise that the quantum realm can create everything. So inside our consciousness is the power to create everything! That is how we join our subject today: meditation.

Part Four: What is Meditation?

Meditation is not a power outside of you because your heart creates everything, so everything is inside of you.

Otherwise, how can you become Buddha?

Buddha is aware of everything and free to create anything. Buddha can create a Pure Land Universe to help unlimited life to become Buddha and help others. This is the highest wisdom of all.

Buddha says everyone can become Buddha. It is inside already. They also say that Buddha seeds cannot grow and appear without development.

So Buddha says to awaken our consciousness to make that power grow even though it is inside as our nature.

And the primary key to making it grow is meditation.

To train meditation to create intuition power.

Part Five: Intuition Power

We have learned previously about 3 Qi’s:

  • 血氣Xue Qi (Physical) Blood Energy
  • 精氣Jing Qi (Essence) Marrow Energy
  • 靈氣Ling Qi  (Awaken) Spiritual Energy Ling Qi is Pure Land Energy

To be aware of Ling Qi, you need a very awakened power. We call this meditation power.

Aware of the highest energy: Ling Qi

  • Material space worlds mostly have Xue Qi. They say the modern world has very little Ling Qi. But long ago, the Earth had a lot. It had many kinds of life forms. Energy gods and devils could come to Earth to absorb it, and they fought for it.
  • The more Ling Qi, the more sensitive you can change space and control everything. Ling Qi is like power.
  • Now, we fight for oil, power, and money. Back then, they fought for energy – for Ling Qi. They directly absorb it to live as long as possible and control the universe.
  • The Earth doesn’t have much anymore, so they are not here anymore.
  • Energy space has Jing Qi and Ling Qi.
  • Lower-level energy gods have Jing Qi. Higher-level energy gods in empty space (Empty Gods) have Ling Qi.
  • Ling Qi has two types. Reincarnation style and out-of-reincarnation style (Pure Land, Unlimited Eternal Ling Qi)
  • This is not created by combination. It is created by awakened consciousness. Awakened consciousness help everyone awaken to join to create Ling Qi.
  • This awakened Ling Qi is developed through the 4 Eternal Hearts:
    • Kindness without ego,
    • Caring without negative personal emotion
    • Joy without stupidity
    • Freedom from greed
  • When you develop this kind of energy, you are out of reincarnation. This energy comes from an eternal system. So, if you follow it, you become eternal, too. That is the idea of awakened consciousness. Become eternal, perfect Dharma. Eternal in unlimited ways with unlimited systems. Each one is perfect. Then you are free to go into and out of reincarnation to help other life.
  • Ling Qi is very sensitive and very fine (finest) energy creation from life. Because it is the original creation, it is the most pure and delicate.
  • So, if you want to train Ling Qi in your Taiji, you must make it lighter and open every channel. Go to beautiful nature, so the surroundings are the most important for beginners.

Part Six: Concentration Becomes Meditation

  • The world is created from causation – life comes from many causes, and many things influence our hearts.
  • So we have no power to concentrate. We think we can, but we cannot.
  • What we call “concentration” is relative. Consider how many conflicting priorities appear when you want to concentrate:
    • We need to breathe, move, the tension in our body, go to the toilet, surroundings, hunger/thirst, energy/tired, moody, sexual, time, society, other life, hot/cold, finance, fear, worry.
    • Influences from inside and outside never stop. They ruin our chance at concentration.
  • Think about it – we have no choice but to say – OK, I’m going to concentrate on this now and not get influenced by those! Within 1 second, it started to fade.
  • So, the ability to freely choose from the heart and succeed in focusing is called meditation.
  • Meditation is deep concentration. It gives you the power to control your senses and thinking. No cause can influence you.
  • You can choose a very strong concentration force by your own will and win against all the causation.
  • This process is called meditation.
  • The result of successful meditation is intuition.

To prove how strong outside influences are, go to beautiful nature. In a space with good feng shui, the energy is balanced. We naturally enter a kind of peaceful meditation. We go back to our pure, essential nature. For me it could be sitting by a waterfall.

So it makes sense to practice this around strong natural forces. To help us build our inner meditation skill.

Question from a student: What does this look like? It’s for modern students learning meditation.

Answer: Initially this is a very weak force inside of us. Developing it creates true strength, force and independence.

How can we create the wisdom of free will (true freedom) if we are only influenced from the outside? How can we develop the wisdom of harmony if we are only influenced by ourselves?

Meditation is the training system that develops both. Training to help you concentrate more correctly, logically, and freely. When it becomes sharp and appears as a true ability in the present we call it intuition. It takes time to train it.

Example: Tai Chi

  • Tai Chi is a moving meditation training system
  • Tai Chi as an ability is intuition. Thta means you don’t have to think when you train successfully.
  • Training requires a lot of concentration, observation, and practice. For example, a strange head movement. Even though you tell someone not to do that, they can’t stop it. It takes many years to train the correct motion in one move. Then, awareness of the body improves to a point where you don’t have to think about it anymore.
  • The training process to guide you to that result can be called a meditation system.
  • By concentrating on being aware of that system and that ability.

Part Seven: Meditation is a precise system

  • Meditation is a clear system that helps you control your heart and mind. It frees you from all influences, allowing you to focus and grow your strength as a centre.
  • There are many kinds of meditation systems.
  • Tai Chi is a system. It requires moving with the power of the foot and harmony to reduce tension. It moves the energy (4 elements) without overacting, strong “I” thinking, and so on.
  • No chance to make it. They say if you can make one move, such as moving meditation, in 20 years of human training, you are a genius. That is how challenging flowing energy with a perfect procedure is for us.

That’s why I encourage everyone to learn Tai Chi. What else gives you a clear way to build focus? Clear reality, in the present as an ability?

I can train to be aware of my 3 Qi’s:

  • Xue Qi: I should be aware of my bone structure, my blood flow, my breathing, my physical strength, and my coordination.
  • Jing Qi: Form them into energy motion at high speed without tension, any angle, any speed you choose.
  • Ling Qi: To train Jing Qi, sensitive awareness must first exist. That is intuition power. Use that power to connect to the Buddhist meditation mantras.

Part Eight: Future of Consciousness

  • High technology is neutral. We think we will only use it to make ourselves stronger, but we can also use it to make ourselves weaker.
  • If we choose technology over developing our consciousness, we become dependent.
  • So train your consciousness! Awareness ability comes from inside not outside.
  • Meditation is about awakening the true power of life, as a system to become an ability (intuition.)
  • So training out 8 consciousnesses is the way to continuously develop.
