Spontaneous Insight and the Power to See Many Angles
“When you understand life, you will develop the same ability as me — spontaneous. That ability is not knowledge. It came from spending my whole life truly curious about what life is. I didn’t waste life on personal issues, always being moody or emotional, going nowhere, playing games that end in suffering. Many people realize too late that they haven’t developed or learned anything — they’ve spent their whole life escaping life.”
-Sifu
Instead, enjoy sharing emotion, sharing desire, the passion of life. Enjoy life as the key point — but without personal possessiveness.
Enjoy something, then let it go. Find something else to enjoy, then let that go. With all that energy of enjoyment, observe life. That’s how you develop the ability to see through people.
They say one word — and bang — you see many angles.
Their behaviour, their attitude, their intention. You can explain their body language, why they moved their hand that way, why their expression looks like that. From there, I choose which “game” I want to play based on how they present themselves. I act differently with each person. The purpose of this is the same — like a waterman — to bring people out of blind, lost games. To help them experience the philosophy that I’ve already lived and benefited from.
The Trap of “I” and “My”
In your normal life, it’s just a cycle of repeating “I” and “my.” But that “I” and “my” isn’t even true. Why not? Because it’s always changing. The ego is the result — created by blind causation.
When Buddha became enlightened, he said it clearly: Buddhism teaches causation. What looks concrete is actually abstract. All knowledge leads to the understanding of causation. One path creates a true spiritual “I”; the other creates a temporary illusion “I.”
One Heart, Two Gates: The Four Causes
There is one heart, two gates. Causation is created by four causes:
- Your intention — the main cause
- Main supporting causes (people and situation) — those who help or influence you
- Timing — the right moment
- All other direct and indirect causes
Your temporary “I,” your feelings, your ego — all come from this mix.
There’s no truth in them. If you let these forces control you without understanding your feelings, of course you’ll feel lost and afraid. There is nothing eternal there.
People waste their energy on this. I chose to use my energy to understand the non-causation I. That’s how my wisdom developed and my heart became free.
How to Know If You Understand
- If you can give one example, you understand a little.
- If you can give many examples, you understand more.
- If you can speak from many angles, then you really get it.
- And if you can live that understanding — you’re truly living it.
That’s how I built my wisdom.
So when you observe deeply, wisdom is not knowledge — it is ability.
Why Were You Born in This Life?
You are the main subject of your life. Everyone is their own main intention. You wanted to be born here. You selected your parents — that can happen. From karma in your last life, you kindly chose this.
It may take many attempts to be born, but one time it works. Sometimes people are born sick or unhealthy — even that is part of it.
Heart Sutra and the Five Developments
The Heart Sutra helps you develop wisdom by observing the five developments.
What are they? And why are they empty?
1. Illusion (Being/Form)
- Whatever you’re aware of — all appearances — are forms.
- Without empty space, these forms cannot be discussed.
- The five elements are: Earth, Water, Fire, Wind, and Empty Space.
2. Receiving (Sensation)
- Consciousness uses the six senses to absorb information from the body and the surrounding environment.
- DNA twists two times to process this.
3. Thinking (Perception/Formation)
- The consciousness stores what it absorbs, processes it, analyzes what it receives.
- It organizes reasons for doing things later.
- That leads to intention — the purpose behind your action.
- Intention is always the answer to: why?
4. Action/Reaction (Volition)
- My action follows what I calculated from what I’m aware of.
- The result of thinking always leads to either action or passivity.
- Action: I decide to do something.
- Passivity: I decide to wait.
- Most people live by feeling.
- How do you know? You feel it. No feeling — no existence.
If you have ever blacked out you know you have done this. You feel you are missing something. So your consciousness was there the whole time.
Feeling becomes more clear when you analyse where it comes from. Then it becomes awareness. If you can’t explain it, the feeling stays at the level of instinct, without the logic of thinking.
5. Awareness
- What is awareness?
- It’s the result of the first four developments coming together.
- Buddhism encourages us to awaken from blindness by becoming aware.
