“Without being asked to do so, the Bodhisattva becomes a good friend to each of the multitude of beings and carries their heavy karmic burdens and sins on his back. He upholds the Tathagata’s profound Dharma treasury and protects the seeds of buddhahood, so that they may continue to multiply. Having awakened great compassion for all sentient beings, he kindly expounds the teaching and endows them with the Dharma eye. He blocks the paths to the three evil realms (hell, beast and ghost realms), opens the gate of virtue, and, without waiting for their request, provides beings with the Dharma. He does this for the multitude of beings just as a dutiful son loves and respects his parents. He indeed looks upon sentient beings as his own self.”

“Samantabhadra Bodhisattva vowed, “I vow that when my life approaches its end, all obstructions will be swept away; I will see Amitabha Buddha, And be born in (Sukhavati), his land of Ultimate Bliss and Peace. When reborn in the western land, I will perfect and completely fulfill, without exception, my great (Bodhisattva) vows, to (save), delight and benefit all beings. The assembly of Amitabha Buddha are completely pure; When from a matchless lotus I am reborn, I will behold the Buddha’s Measureless light as he appears before me to bestow a prediction of Buddhahood. Receiving a prediction from the Buddha, I will manifest in countless appearances and forms, and with wisdom power vast and great, pervade the ten directions to benefit all the realms of living beings.”
