Life is governed by cause and effect, there is a perfect system behind all that occurs. If there were no system everything would be completely random and meaningless. Just because we aren’t aware of the system, doesn’t mean there is not a system.
Eat bad food, get bad energy, bad body shape and poor self esteem.
Discipline in an area can allow you to improve or get better.
Cause and effect between parents, created you, you continue to survive through breathing, drinking and eating. Everything you breathe, drink and eat also comes from other cause and effect, creating a system. As you continue to age your body continues to change, the way in which it changes can be influenced by either you taking care of it and looking after it or neglecting it and allowing it to deteriorate at a faster rate.
Sometimes life can seem unfair or harsh when you look at a particular situation. You may feel like you got the short end of the stick, or that you or someone else didn’t deserve what happened to them. Just because we aren’t aware of all the causes leading up to that particular moment, doesn’t mean there wasn’t a logical cause and effect at play.
For example, someone who steals a lot is constantly fearful of being caught. There perception of reality is already influenced from fear. Furthermore, every person they meet they will wonder will they also try to steal from them. So they live with distrust in their heart, distrust from self and also distrust from others.
Our current character, opinions, appearance is the cause and effect of our entire upbringing. Society, family and friends create our current view of life. We are all constantly influenced by our surroundings, we don’t know what character habits we have and are limited by/trapped in.
Whilst at the particular moment that may appear to be true, the balance of cause and effect is not only limited to this lifetime, it is linked to many lifetimes as Karma.
By understanding the life system as Buddhism teaches you can start to plan your life according to that eternal wisdom.
Over the next few months in the Practical Wisdom Wednesday class we are going to talk about the different wisdom that Buddha taught, such as:
– Four Noble Truths
– Three Eternal Dharma Truths
– Six Bodhisattva Characters
– Four Eternal Hearts
– Tricks of Ego
– Five Developments
– One Heart Two Gates
– Awareness Boundary
– 7 Chakras
These are some of the foundations concepts that will start to develop your wisdom and start you thinking and observing life from a neutral angle. This will help us to be free to observe life outside of our narrow perspective.
